Past life fic
Britain during WWII
Bree rubbed one hand across her face, it'd been a long day. The blokes over at the training barracks had been running exercises again today. She'd heard the planes roaring over top of the hospital since the early morning. She'd likely see one or two of them in here today with some cuts and scrapes, the rest with offers of drinks and dancing. She smiled to herself, dancing sounded fun. Just as soon as she finished this last bit of paperwork.
Then a smiling face on top of a bouquet of lilies appeared around the corner from her desk. She looked up in surprise, "Jamie! They're beautiful, where on earth did you find them?" She exclaimed happily, taking a deep whiff of the lovely scent. "I appropriated them from a nearby field, i'm sad to say," He took off his cap and ran a hand through his hair,
"You like them then?" Bree looked up at him, "Oh yes, they're absolutely darling, Jamie." She kissed him once. Jamie flushed happily, "Can you get away tonight?" Bree nodded, "Just as soon as I finish updating Mr. Simmons' chart." "I'll wait outside then." Jamie said, "the Captain's given us all leave for the next two days." "I'll be quick," Bree promised.
** Later that Evening**
They'd gone to Novello's, a well known club for Pilot officers and their girls. Jamie for all his bashfulness was an truly excellent dancer, Bree reflected as they spun around the dance floor. Bree's cheeks were flushed with pleasure as they left the club and walked down the street to where her boarding house was. " I had a great time Jamie," she told him. "I'm glad." He said quietly, not letting go of her hand. She smiled up at him, kissing him passionately before pulling away. "I should go in."
"Do you hafta?" he asked quietly. "I mean there's a late show at the cinema that we could catch. I just...don't want you to leave yet."
Bree thought for a moment, "I suppose I could stay a little longer."
Jamie flushed, grabbing her hand, " It's just down this street."
